What "organic" actually means
Most caps are made from conventional cotton nobody asks questions about. Ours are GOTS certified organic. Here is what that means in practice.
Every Artless cap is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. That sentence is on every product page, so it is fair to ask what it actually means.
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It means the cotton in your cap was grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides, uses less water than conventional cotton farming, and guarantees fair working conditions for everyone involved in making it. It is checked by independent audits, not by us.
The cotton
GOTS
Global Organic Textile Standard. Cotton grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides, with less water and fair conditions for the people who farm it.
The factory
BSCI
Independent audits for fair wages, safe working conditions and workers' rights at the factory where every cap is made.
The factory side matters just as much. Our caps are made in China, in a factory we genuinely consider a partner, one that holds BSCI certification: independent audits for fair wages, safe working conditions and workers' rights. China is home to some of the world's best cap manufacturers, and the people we work with are proof of that.
Let it fade, bring it around the world, pass it down. The more you wear it, the more personal it gets.
We are not naive about what we do. The world is not sitting around waiting for another cap brand. That is exactly why the one we make has to be made properly: a premium product you will wear over and over, produced in limited numbers to avoid overproduction.
